COURSE DESCRIPTION
For many clients particularly the elderly the most urgent concern they have in an estate plan is that their pet the source of consolation over many years is taken care of once the client dies. This desire often runs up against the limits of what substantive law allows or can achieve. This program will discuss the statutory versus common framework of estate planning for pets traditional versus statutory trusts standards for fiduciaries and caregivers distributions to caregivers for the pet and for themselves and designation of a remainder beneficiary.
